What are Advanced Course Network lasses you ask?
Last year the Rhode Island Department of Education added an impressive network of classes. The thinking, no high school can offer every class that their students may be interested in. The solution: let students choose from courses offered in other high schools, colleges and universities, and courses offered by community organizations, such as FabNewport. And to top it off the classes are free to public school students.
- Starting in the fall of 2017 Fab Newport offers 3D modeling class using Fusion 360, a state-of-the-art collaborative design tool;
- Computer Science Principles, a curriculum designed by the computer science team at the University of Rhode Island.
- And we’re offering a wearables class; emphasizing designing clothing and other electronic artifacts programmed to interact with sensors, lights, beepers, buzzers, and anything available to the imagination.
Students choose from a full array of classes throughout the state. Classes are free for all public school students.
You can see FabNewport’s full sleight of classes here.
Students in our 3D Modeling class earn an industry certificate in Autodesk’s Fusion 360.
