FabNewport just finished running maker camps at the Middletown,  Newport and Portsmouth libraries! We had a  great group of 8 to 12 year  olds from each community  designing  and making tee shirt and  stickers,  3D prints,  games and  animation in scratch, and custom  game  controllers with Makey  Makey’s. The camp was lots of fun. A  huge thank  you to the great support we had from librarians at  each  site, our volunteers  and our interns.

Each library on Aquidneck Island now has a 3D printer, vinyl  cutter,  and  some Makey Makey’s and Picoboards! We’ll be  working with each  library (Newport, Middletown and  Portsmouth) to run programs for  kids  and adults to get  everyone dreaming, designing and making.

We already have open studio scheduled in Newport for the next four Wednesdays:  July 30th and August 6th, 13th and 20th. Each session from  2:30 to 4:30. If you have no idea about any or all of 3D printing, vinyl cutting, Makey Makey’s and Picoboards, no problem! No experience necessary and no pressure to be an expert. We’ll be on hand to answer questions and get you started. Keep checking your local library for Middletown and Portsmouth.

If you missed the camp, don’t worry!

FabNewport will be rolling out some camps for the end of August. Keep checking back for details!
