FabNewport hosted its first public laser cutting workshop tonight; four paying customers and a couple of folks in training. Tom cut out a delicate silhouette of his son; Sandy made a book cover for his friend Kate; Nathaniel cut out some wooden cards and a part for his robot; Tyson etched poems into driftwood. What do you want to make?

It was a milestone for FabNewport as our strategic plan calls for running a steady dose of workshops in the evening. Tomorrow morning 10 Met School students show up for full semester course in 3D modeling using Autodesk’s Inventor. Next week we start after school with Pell students. We’ve already got two homeschool groups in the lab and lots of activity at All Saints Academy. FabNewport is involved.
