Introduction to 3D Printing and 3D Design!
This two-part workshop will introduce participants to 3D printing and 3D design. By the end of the course participants will be have a fundamental understanding of how 3D printers work, will be able to design and print files, and will have the skills to navigate two different 3D design software packages.
In Session 1, participants will learn the basics of how printers works, how 3D files work and how to print them. They will then be introduced to 3D design for 3D printing using Sketchup. All participants will be encouraged to complete a similar design challenge. The session concludes with supported work time for participants to design and explore 3D design and Sketchup.
Between Sessions 1 and 2 participants are encouraged to brainstorm a basic shape or item they would like to design and print. Session 2 begins with sharing and working on different designs proposed by the class. Designs will be printed. Session 2 introduces participants to TinkerCad, another 3D design software tool. Completed designs not printed by the workshop’s end will be completed by appointment at no charge. The cost of the workshop covers consumables and 2 hours of printing time.

Space is limited to 6, with a possible expansion to 8 depending on interest. All spots are allotted on a first come first serve basis.
