More than 30 people turned out for the 3D printing workshop at the International Yacht Restoration School on the evening of July 17. Anna France, co-author of Getting Started with MakerBot, opened the event with a 30 minute talk and slide show describing and showcasing 3D printing capabilities. France showed off many of her innovative and artistic prints. A link to the slide show is here. After the talk people hung out and chatted until 9:30.
On July 24 IYRS and FabNewport will host another workshop on 3D printing. Matt Donley, author of the MasterSketchup website will present on how to take advantage of free software for 3D printing. Guests for the free workshops are encouraged to bring lap tops. Several 3D printers will be on hand to experiment with.
